Your life.
Your home.
Your way.
Individualised Living Options aren't about fitting a participant into an existing model. They're about designing a living arrangement that fits the participant — their goals, their relationships, their preferences and their vision of independence.
Discuss ILO Options
Living arrangements built around you — not the other way around
Individualised Living Options — ILO — is an NDIS support that helps participants explore and establish living arrangements tailored to their individual goals, relationships and vision of independence. Unlike traditional models where the housing and support package are predetermined, ILO starts with the person and works outward from there.
Starts with the person
The participant's goals, preferences and vision of independence are the starting point — not an available property or a funding category.
Flexible by design
ILO doesn't prescribe a particular model. It's intentionally flexible — because what independence looks like is different for everyone.
About outcomes, not arrangements
The goal isn't to find somewhere to live. It's to find a way of living that genuinely supports the participant to thrive.
A collaborative process
Participants, families, Support Coordinators and providers work together to explore, design and refine the right arrangement.
What an ILO arrangement might look like
ILO takes different forms for different people. Here are some of the arrangements that participants, families and Support Coordinators have explored through the ILO pathway.
Living with a host
A participant lives with a host family or individual who provides a supportive, home-like environment. The level of support is tailored to the participant's needs and goals.
Living with a supportive housemate
A participant shares their home with a carefully matched housemate who provides some informal support alongside funded NDIS supports — creating connection alongside care.
Living independently with tailored supports
A participant lives in their own home with flexible, scheduled support designed around their life — not the other way around. Maximum independence, right-sized support.
Shared living arrangements
Two or more participants choose to live together, supported by a shared model designed around their combined goals, preferences and daily needs.
Creative living solutions
Sometimes the right arrangement doesn't fit a standard template. ILO is designed precisely for these situations — to explore what's genuinely right for the individual.
We listen before we suggest
ILO done well isn't about finding a living arrangement that happens to be available. It's about genuinely understanding a person's life and building something around it. That takes time, care and a willingness to slow down before moving forward.
Listen first
Before we suggest anything, we listen. What does this person want their life to look like? That's the only question that matters at the start.
Understand goals deeply
Not just practical goals — where a person wants to live and who with — but what independence, connection and belonging actually mean to them.
Explore possibilities openly
We don't arrive with a shortlist of options. We explore what's genuinely possible and encourage creative thinking before narrowing to what fits best.
Build sustainable arrangements
A living arrangement that works beautifully for six months but collapses at twelve is a problem. We plan for longevity — not just initial fit.
Support choice and control
The participant makes the decisions. Our role is to inform, advise and support — not to choose for them or steer them toward what's convenient for us.
Collaborate throughout
Families, Support Coordinators and allied health professionals are part of the conversation from the beginning — not consulted at the end.
The right ILO arrangement feels right — for the participant, for the people around them and for the future. We don't rush to that. We take the time to get there properly.
Who may benefit from Individualised Living Options
ILO isn't for everyone — and that's okay. Here's who tends to find it the most meaningful pathway.
Participants seeking greater independence
People who are ready for more — more freedom, more choice, more life — and who need the right support and living arrangement to get there.
Participants wanting something flexible
Those for whom a traditional SIL vacancy isn't the right fit — and who need a living arrangement that's genuinely designed around their life, not a standard model.
Families exploring long-term options
Families thinking ahead — about what comes after the family home, and what a good, sustainable living future could look like for their family member.
Support Coordinators
Coordinators looking for a provider willing to think creatively about living arrangements for participants who don't fit neatly into existing options.
Participants with specific lifestyle preferences
People who know what they want their daily life to look and feel like — and who deserve a living arrangement designed to honour those preferences, not override them.
How we work through ILO together
Exploring ILO is a journey — and the best ones are built on partnership, not process. Here's what working with Bloom on an ILO arrangement typically looks like.
Initial conversation
We start by listening. There's no intake form, no commitment. Just a conversation about what matters to the participant and what they're hoping to achieve.
Understanding goals and preferences
We take time to understand the whole picture — daily life preferences, relationships, community connections, what independence means to this person specifically.
Exploring suitable living options
With a clear picture of the person's goals, we explore what living arrangements might genuinely work — openly and without a predetermined answer.
Planning the right supports
Once the right arrangement starts to take shape, we design the support model — who does what, when, and how — to make the arrangement genuinely sustainable.
Developing the living arrangement
We work through the practical steps to bring the arrangement to life — logistics, relationships, documentation and all the details that matter.
Ongoing review and collaboration
Living arrangements evolve as people do. We stay involved — reviewing regularly, adapting where needed and ensuring the arrangement continues to serve the participant well.
A provider built for this kind of thinking
ILO requires a provider who listens before they suggest, plans before they act and stays engaged after the arrangement is in place. Here's what we offer.
Registered NDIS Provider
Fully registered with the NDIS Quality and Safeguards Commission. Accountable, compliant and committed to high standards.
Genuinely person-centred
We mean it. Not as a tagline — as the actual starting point for every conversation, plan and decision we make.
Collaborative planning
We work with participants, families and Support Coordinators together — not in separate conversations that don't connect.
Experienced support team
Support workers who are matched to participants carefully — by skill, temperament and genuine compatibility.
Local knowledge
We know Gympie, the Sunshine Coast and Wide Bay — the communities, the housing landscape and the networks that matter.
Long-term relationships
We're not here for the transition and then gone. We build relationships with participants and families that last — and adapt as life changes.
Could Individualised Living Options be the right path?
Tell us about the participant — their goals, what hasn't worked before, what they're hoping for. We'll have an honest, open conversation about whether ILO could be the right pathway and what that might look like with Bloom.
